v  Elixir De-pigmenting Peel- for stubborn skin pigmentation due to pregnancy, the pill or inflammation.

v  Elixir Deep TCA Peel- For sun damaged skin, stretch marks and refresh skin of smokers, spots, fine lines.

v  A Special Peel for skin of colour (Skin types 3-6).

v  Obaji Blue Peel-designer peel, see below for details.

What should I expect?

The skin is prepared for 2 weeks prior to your first peel. Each treatment can last up to 30minutes. The skin is carefully cleaned before the peel is applied.

How does the Peel work?

Peels work by removing damaged skin, stimulating new collagen production and restoration with new skin. The peel is place on the treatment area and left for a specified time. During this time the skin may tingle or feel warm. During this time the active acids are destroying the superficial dead skin layers which make the skin look dull, exposing smoother clearer skin. The acid is neutralised by washing it off carefully with water.

What should I expect afterward?

A few hours after the treatment the skin looks red or may be more intense like a sunburn. This may last a few days depending on the depth and strength of the peel. Over the following days to weeks the skin begins to peel and flake off. The peeling process varies depending on the strength of the peel. It can be from a day to over a week. The stronger the peel, the better the results but the longer the peeling time (downtime).

Your practitioner will advise you on aftercare treatment. It is very important to protect your skin from the sun for at least one month.

How many treatments are necessary?

Peels can be repeated monthly, until the desired effect is achieved,

The Obaji Blue Peel

The Obagi Blue Peel has trichloroacetic acid (TCA) as its active ingredient. Only specially trained doctors can perform this intensive treatment. Unless having a light treatment (Blue for a Day) skin must be prepared for at least 4 weeks with the Obagi Nu-Derm system to ensure that it is as healthy as possible in order to get optimum results.

Obagi Blue Peels can help treat:

• Fine lines & wrinkles
• Acne scars
• Pigmentation & blemishes
• Skin laxity
• Large pores

Does it hurt?
A mild burning sensation is felt a short while after the solution is applied which lasts a few minutes. A fan is used to help cool the skin and makes this more comfortable. The stronger the peel, the stronger the sensation but also, the better the results. Your skin may be sensitive, flaky, dry or irritated while it peels but this process should not be painful.

Is it safe?
It is very important to carefully follow the aftercare advice that you are given to ensure no unwanted effects. Uncommon side effects include pigment problems and scarring.

What is downtime and how long does it last?
During this time, you may not want to go out in public and so it is usual to plan the timing of your peel so that you can have a few days in which to recover. In the days after your peel, it is very important to ensure that you wear good sun protection when outside as your skin will be sensitive to the sun.
An Obagi Blue for a Day peel is a light exfoliating peel with minimal downtime. Deeper peels will give better results but can have a downtime of up to 10 days.

How long does it take?
The treatment itself takes approximately 45 minutes.

How many treatments are necessary?
